Our Story

A Local Business

Tangerine Group has long been rooted in the Fylde area. Founded more than 30 years ago by David Haythornthwaite, the business began in a disused builder’s yard in Freckleton with strong foundations in farming.

Since then, Tangerine Group has grown into a well-respected international company supplying veterinary and agricultural products to more than 50 countries worldwide. Today, Tangerine Group comprises eight companies and supports 247 employees. The proposed new headquarters signals Tangerine Group’s commitment to continue investing in the Fylde area, supporting the communities where the business began.

Currently based in Lytham, the business will soon outgrown its current premises. As a result, Tangerine Group is exploring plans to establish a new purpose-built, long-term headquarters at Greenlands Farm, Wrea Green.

Our Vision for Greenlands Farm

The Tangerine Group’s proposals for Greenlands Farm would repurpose a former dilapidated agricultural site, that has been in the ownership of the Tangerine Group for over 20 years, to create a landmark global headquarters.

The project would bring long-term investment and support new jobs in the area, providing office space, meeting rooms and improved research & development facilities.

Screening the Development

The development would be centred around the existing farm buildings, helping to retain open space across the wider site. Buildings would be set away from nearby homes, with additional tree planting proposed to help soften views and screen the development.

Landscape and tree planting will minimise views of the development from residential properties and the surrounding countryside to minimise impact on the wider landscape character.

A detailed Transport Assessment is being carried out to understand how the proposals may affect the local road network. This will review traffic levels, nearby junctions and access to the site, and identify any improvements if needed. A key reason that Greenlands Farm is being considered is its location to the east of Wrea Green, with good access towards the wider road network. At present, traffic associated with Tangerine Group’s existing headquarters often travels through Wrea Green when heading to and from the A585 and M55. Relocating to Greenlands Farm to the east of Wrea Green would reduce this traffic of larger vehicles.

How will construction be managed?

Construction will be guided by a Construction Management Plan, setting out how deliveries, vehicle movements and working hours will be managed to minimise disruption for residents. This Construction Management Plan will be agreed with Fylde Council before construction commences.

What Happens Next?

Following the consultation, the project team is carefully reviewing all the feedback received while continuing to prepare the outline planning application.

The views received will be summarised and responded to in a Statement of Community Involvement that will form part of the planning application pack.

It is anticipated that the outline planning application will be submitted to Fylde Council later this year.
